Fitness programs are effective because the Length of the training period and the many changes that affect your fitness through the year necessitates the use of a periodized approach to training and the corresponding lifestyle changes.

6-Week Macro cycles
7 day micro cycles
Rest periods within each macro and micro cycle
Trying to improve all aspect of training at the same time is not practical nor possible. No athlete is capable of handling that much simultaneous stress.
